Trial dissemination of dust forecast in numerical form through EUMETCast
Trial dissemination through EUMETCast of dust forecasts in numerical form starts on 9 October. EUMETCast is a multi-service dissemination system based on multicast technology. It uses commercial telecommunication geostationary satellites using Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) standards and research networks to multi-cast files (data and products) to a wide user community. EUMETCast is managed by EUMETSAT, the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, and delivers products generated by the organization itself as well as a range of third-party products.
The daily dust prediction will be delivered in netCDF format. The filename convention is <DATETIME>_3H_SDSWAS_NMMB-BSC-v2_EUMETCAST.nc where <DATETIME> = model run in YYYYMMDDHH UTC. Example: 2018100412_3H_SDSWAS_NMMB-BSC-v2_EUMETCAST.nc
The data will be distributed on EUMETCast as follows:
EUMETCast Europe:
- Channel: EUMETSAT Data Channel 12
- Multicast address: 224.223.222.35
- PID: 301
EUMETCast Africa:
- Channel: A1C-TPC-6
- Multicast address: 224.223.225.4
- PID: 100
Access to the data will be automatically provided for Member State National Meteorological Services and registered manufacturers. Following a successful trial, it is planned to make them available to the wider EUMETCast User community.
