Agora aerosol training course characterization of atmospheric aerosol using in situ and remote sensing techniques
Summary
ATMO-ACCESS project supports innovative training and education activities related to atmospheric research infrastructures. It is crucial for the future success of European atmospheric facilities to ensure that new generations of researchers acquire knowledge and skills to take advantage of all the essential tools for their research. This training at AGORA Aerosol Training School is the first of three innovative sessions to add the training dimension to Research Infrastructures using physical, remote, and virtual access.
Target group:
The training course is intended mainly for researchers and technicians from the atmospheric field. Trainees must have previous knowledge on aerosol sciences, at least in one of the aerosol measurement techniques. They could be advanced masters students, doctoral students, early-career scientists, or technicians. Good communication skills in English are required.
Please, note that the number of participants is limited – only 20 transnational plus 5 Spanish applications will be accepted!
Course contents & learning outcomes:
The lectures provide fundamental knowledge in novel, advanced techniques for measuring aerosol properties, covering in situ, remote sensing, and laboratory-based instruments. This hybrid training course will be held face-to-face at the Andalusian Global ObseRvatory of the Atmosphere (AGORA) in Granada (Spain), including a visit to the Sierra Nevada station and hands-on training for some novel aerosol instruments. It is combined with remote activities the week before (1.5 h per day, 2 days) and after the course (3 h per day, 5 days). Interactive face-to-face lectures are planned from Monday 12th to Friday 16th June (8:30 – 17:30). All participants will obtain a certificate for their participation.
Lecturers:
Invited lecturers are top-level experts from the ACTRIS facilities for aerosol in-situ and remote sensing measurements.
