'3rd Training Course on WMO SDS-WAS' held in Muscat, Oman

The training course has been held at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman, 8-12 December 2013.

It has been conducted together with a 'McIDAS-V Tutorial with focus on atmospheric dust cases' was held 15-16 December 2013 at the same venue. Both activities have been organized by the WMO, EUMETSAT, Oman General Directorate of Meteorology and Air Navigation (DGMAN), Sultan Qaboos University and WMO SDS-WAS Regional Center for Northern Africa, Middle East and Europe.

42 participants from 11 countries (Bahrein, Egypt, Oman, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and U. A. E.) attended the course. The lectures were delivered by Zeinab Abdullah (Egyptian Meteorological Authority), Khalid Khamis Al-Jahwari (DGMAN), Sultan Al-Yahyai (DGMAN), Jose Baldasano (Barcelona Supercomputing Center), Francesco Benincasa (Barcelona Supercomputing Center), Emilio Cuevas (AEMET), Jose Prieto (EUMETSAT), Hans-Peter Rösli (EUMETSAT), Kerstin Schepanski (Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research) and Enric Terradellas (AEMET).
